SDCN’s 15th birthday celebration took place on Saturday 4th December 2010 at the Birdsland Environment Centre. Our AGM was chaired by Cr Sam Dunn followed by a shared cutting of the birthday cake by our President Garrique Pergl and Cr Dunn. To celebrate the anniversary, Cr Dunn planted a tree. During a lunch of finger food and drinks we heard a fascinating talk by Kallista naturalist Alex Maisey. Alex showed over 30 members and guests some historical and current day pictures of the special flora and fauna of Sherbrooke Forest.
A number of people who were present at the original meeting held at the Kallista Hall in April 1995, attended the birthday celebration including Betty Marsden of the Save the Dandenongs League, Mark Lawrence of Friends of Sassafras Creek, Ian Johnson, Michael Butler, Secretary, Garrique Pergl, President. Special thanks to Cr Sam Dunn for attending our celebrations, chairing the AGM and her kind thoughts on the role and value of the community nursery.
