A very successful Mini Beasts Festival was held on a beautiful sunny Sunday 28 April around the Birdsland Environment Centre and the
community nursery. Activities included identifying aquatic invertebrates, the environment in art activities, hearing about platypus
and landcare activities by the Southern Dandenongs Landcare Group.
Thanks to Gavin Prentice from Yarra Ranges Council, Vicki Boyle from Landcare, Melbourne Water and bushland contractor Roger Shaw. 75
children and their parents passed through the nursery and received a free indigenous plant from the nursery to celebrate the day. Visitors to
the nursery included Parks Victoria Lysterfield ranger Andrew Van Vloten and Betty Marsden from Save the Dandenongs League.
