Thank you to Lyster Ward Councillor Samantha Dunn who chaired the meeting.
Guest speaker Melbourne zoologist Malcolm Legg then spoke about the early European records of native fauna in the Melbourne area, species now locally extinct and two Bandicoot species still present on the urban/rural fringes of Melbourne. His illustrated talk also covered
highlights of 29 years of field survey work including reptiles, frogs, bats and mammals. It was accompanied by pictures and infrared video
revealing glimpses of native animals and introduced predators occupying the same habitat.
Malcolm gave an exceptional talk and was thanked by the committee friends and visitors. We then enjoyed finger food and drinks to
celebrate the achievements of SDCN working with community in 2011.
Thank you to Councillor Samantha Dunn for chairing the election of the new committee and to guest speaker Melbourne zoologist Malcolm Legg who provided an inspiring talk.
