National Tree Day 30 July 2017 participants

The early days of SDCN

In late 1995 plant production commenced in member backyards including Kallista, Upwey and Belgrave Heights.

In 1996 works began at the present site to establish irrigation systems, polyhouse and drainage systems.

In the late 1990’s the nursery potting shed was constructed to provide storage for materials, work benches and an undercover area.
Monbulk Creek rehabilitation project
SDCN has been a partner with Parks Victoria, Melbourne Water and the Shire of Yarra Ranges in the rehabilitation of the Monbulk Creek
stream side corridor since 1996. The project has involved nursery members and the community in pest plant control, collection of seed, growing of plants and plantings at Lysterfield Lake Park, Monbulk Creek Retarding Basin, Birdsland Reserve, Belgrave Lake Park and private properties with stream frontages. Our group has received grants from Melbourne Water, Parks Victoria and the Shire to assist SDCN to carry out the works.
